History and comparison
The difference between two crawls: what was fixed and what is new.
Every crawl is saved. When you crawl the same site again after making fixes, you see what got fixed and what is new.
#History tab
- Scans: the date of each crawl, the number of URLs, its duration, the health score and the number of errors/warnings. You can open any older crawl.
- Changes: compares the crawl you are viewing with another crawl you choose. The default is the previous crawl.
The “Changes” card in the Overview is also a summary against the previous crawl.
#How to read the difference
| Number | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Fixed | Findings that were on the page in the old crawl and are gone in the new one |
| New | Findings that were not there before and appear in the new one |
| Shared URLs | The number of URLs crawled in both crawls |
| Status changed | URLs whose status code changed (e.g. 200 → 404) |
Below it comes a check-by-check list: on which pages it got fixed, on which it is new, and the “old → new” change in the number of findings.
#Fair comparison rules
- Checks added to the tool later do not count as “new”. If the old crawl was made before that check existed, it means the tool is looking at something new, not that the site got worse. These checks are left out of the comparison and their names are listed in a separate note.
- Only URLs crawled in both crawls are compared. URLs found in only one of them (because of a different page limit or a site change) are not counted as a change in findings; their number is noted.
- Pages that hit the rate limit could not be checked in that crawl, so that URL is not compared.
- For a page that was
noindexin one crawl, the checks aimed at search results are not compared. - Findings marked as an intentional choice are not included in the comparison.
